What is lino?: Lino is short for linoleum, you know, the stuff we use on floors. It's made from solidified linseed oil, wood flour and pine dust amongst other things.
How is a lino print made?: A design is drawn onto the surface of the lino (the block), it's then carved using traditional wood-cutting tools. Ink is then rolled over the block,
and when pressed onto paper the block acts like a stamp. Essentially its a bit like making a super-duper potato stamp :) but more awesome. Although I do like potatoes, but for eating, not art.
Then what?: Well, I like to work back into the prints using watercolour, ink, metallics and pen. I often mix up the colour combinations, tone and lines to create completely
different looking prints.
